Scenes from Project Walk:

At right Noah works the arm cycle while standing, an exercise that develops balance, plasticity, gait patterning and cardio.

Below right Noah tackles the Power Plate, again working on balance as well as leg strength.

Below is the Ground Base Jammer, a sophisticated piece of equipment that Noah has just started using. It demands increased coordination of the trunk, arm & leg muscles.

I swear I don't wear the same clothes everyday.

Walking dynamically with crutches is essential because, unlike a walker, my arms are involved in my gait.

Working hamstrings and glutes.  There was 60 pounds of resistance.

I'm working on balancing in free space now.  I can stand this way for up to 5 seconds before needing to catch myself on the bars.

Walking on the pool treadmill

Walking: I use my physical therapists (Jill and Sue) for balance but am bearing all of my own weight.  I took 40 steps on this day.

Here I use the bar to balance myself sitting upright.  We take it for granted but this is re-building my trunk stability and balance.  There was a time I couldn't even sit in a wheelchair without a chest strap and seatbelt.

The Support Team (L to R): John Smith, Raquel Voigt, Yuliya Kafrouni, John Kafrouni (doctor), Noah Smith, Eric Voigt (chiropractor and plasticity creator extraordinaire), Susan Froehlich (acupuncturist), Marilyn Smith
